SUMBA ISLAND

I spent much of last year living at NIHI Sumba, one of Asia’s leading hotels, working as a live-in content creator. Known as the Edge of Wildness, NIHI is famous for its Sandalwood horses that run wild along the 2.5km stretch of white sand in front of the hotel. The horses of Sumba are considered the soul of this Indonesian paradise.

Sumba itself is a truly magical island, often called the "Forgotten Island" for good reason. With buffalo dowries, traditional villages, and a deep rooted belief in ancestral spirits, it feels worlds apart from its more famous neighbour, Bali. During my time there, I met some of the most incredible souls and was fortunate to experience this untouched paradise before it inevitably becomes more mainstream.
